GreenFest Returns to Ramapo

Ramapo College’s Annual GreenFest Event 2013



Mahwah NJ – Come celebrate the spring at the GreenFest event on the Ramapo College campus this Saturday, April 20th where Ramapo organizations NORML, 1Step, and the Yoga Club, are hosting this all-day fun-filled occasion from noon to 7 pm in the Bandshell. In the case of rain, the alternative location will be at the Bradley Center Lounge.

This annual outdoor event is chock-full of activities, live music, free food, merchandise to buy, hiking sessions, clothing swap, frisbee, jousting, games to play and much, much more. Starting at noon, there will be free yoga classes at the Zen tent, with three separate sessions at 12 pm – 1 pm with Loretta, 3 pm – 4 pm with Caroline, and 5 pm – 6 pm with Carol. Remember to come with your mats to these mixed-level beginner classes. From 12 pm – 7 pm an inflatable slide and a 30-foot parachute, just like the ones from grammar school recess, will be available for all to enjoy.

Student and professional-level hula dancer, Alysa Ochoa, will be selling her home-made, organic honeybee wax chapsticks and natural deodorants as well as hand-made jewelry. There will also be a speaker, Ken Wolski, the New Jersey founder of the Coalition for Medical Marijuana, discussing the recent marijuana legislation in NJ. Other vendors include the Garden State Sparkway specialty smoke and gift shop, http://www.gardenstatesparkway.com/; Mike Chazulow’s Hemp Heaven hemp clothing and beauty products, http://www.hempheavenonline.com/home/home.html; and Mercy for Animals, an organization that promotes food choices and policies that prevent cruelty to animals, http://www.mercyforanimals.org/.
 
Free food options include Moe’s Taco chips and salsa; Sonny & Tony’s pizza; Rita’s Italian ices; Field of Creams ice cream; Hemp Heaven chocolate chip hemp cookies; and more. Also, free t-shirts supplied by Udelco Vintage, Inc will be given out at a tie-dye and fabric paint station for everyone to unleash their creativity while practicing sustainability.
