L'Arte Implements 10 Cent Discount for Reusables
Ramapo student and proud
advocate of Ramapo Green, Ysabella Landon, proposed a 10 cent discount extended
to all customers who bring a reusable cup at local bakery and coffee shop, L’arte
della Pasticceria, at 109 E. Main Street
in Ramsey. This is to encourage our community to bring their own cup or mug
instead of using a disposable cup. Taking this step helps reduce landfill waste. The L’arte della Pasticceria team immediately saw the value of providing this discount
and agreed to it!
As a community of
college students, copious amounts of coffee are consumed each day. It is
important to educate Ramapo College on ways to reduce the waste we produce. By
simply asking our local business to align with our (sustainable) values, we can
engage and empower our neighbors to move toward a more sustainable future. When
students choose to purchase a drink with their reusable cup they save 10 cents,
which means that they are saving one dollar by the tenth purchase. The reusable
cup or mug that one buys will be paid for via discounts.
When asked about this
recent collaboration between L’Arte and Ramapo Green, Langdon express her
desire to get all Ramsey businesses to offer such a discount.
“Wouldn’t it be so
amazing if not only one, but all local businesses in Ramsey adopted this
discount. It would show an entire community unifying around environmental
progress and a move toward minimal waste,” Langdon said.
